Lines. Dots.
Something personal.

I’m interested in the simplest marks: a line, a shape, a few points. Their placement can change the way they feel.

Two hand-held tattoo tools laid out on the prepared workbench.
The tools before the session.

Tattooing in
the Tebori style.

That is how I describe my work at Salt Marks. The hand-held approach is part of what draws me to it.

The term and its background

Old traces.
New drawings.

Cave paintings, stepped Inca forms and the geometry of Berber motifs inform the direction I want to explore. I’m interested in their lines, repetition and rough edges.

Back to
paper and pencil.

My next step is to draw the tattoo designs myself by hand. That part of Salt Marks is still developing, and I want to give it room to find its own language.
